We've taken a few educational boat trips over the years but yours was by far the best all-around experience. The highlight had to be the breadth of sea life we pulled up and got a chance to investigate, interact with and, of course, learn about."

|Winter Vacation Adventures Camp|
Kids can spend their spring school vacation exploring our watery world in this special series of fun activities at The Maritime Aquarium.
The programs are filled with age-appropriate activities, experiments and animal encounters. There’s a different theme each day for younger kids (ages 6 to 9), who can attend one, some or all five days ... you decide! Older kids (ages 9-12) take part in our popular week-long “Junior Marine Biologist” program.
Programs meet from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day. Bring a bag lunch, a snack (packed separately) and an appetite for adventure. Spring Vacation Adventures are $100 per day or $435 for the full week. Pre-Care from 8:30-9:30 a.m. is $20 a day or $75 a week. Extended Care from 3:30-5:30 p.m. is $35 a day or $145 a week.
We invite you into the inner workings of our Aquarium. Your eventual goal: set up, stock, feed and maintain an aquarium display of Long Island Sound marine life in a healthy, sustainable habitat. Use water-chemistry meters to monitor water quality of your aquarium and grow brine shrimp to feed your aquarium animals. Participate in squid and fish dissections. Learn how to use a variety of microscopes to view the unseen world of Long Island Sound. There will be an open house for parents on Friday to see completed projects.
Find out what makes a shark different from a flounder on this very fishy day! Kids will visit the Shark & Ray Touch Pool, count teeth in real shark jaws, and learn about a shark’s unique senses through hands-on activities. They’ll see how we prepare food for the sharks and might even get a sneak peek behind the scenes to see where we care for our friends with fins!
It’s a special day devoted to Earth’s biggest animals. Activities include an IMAX® movie, blubber and feeding experiments, assembling a life-size whale puzzle, touching real whale artifacts, crafts and more.
This fun session will navigate through the history of navigation and some of the many tools that have been used to help us find our way in the world. Kids will learn what geocaching is, use navigation tools and go on a special Maritime Aquarium geocaching hunt for treasures! Kids will attend a special IMAX® movie.
Through hands-on activities, learn about our five senses, including the fun of optical illusions! Use tools such as hand lenses and microscopes. Discover the senses of animals, from crabs to sharks and jelies.
Why is Earth called the “blue planet?” Kids will learn how we are connected, and that what we do in our yards affects Long Island Sound. They’ll go on an outdoor river walk (weather permitting). The day will be topped off with learning about things they can do to help the environment. Pollute enviroscape and find ways to clean it up.
