"We've taken a few educational boat trips over the years but yours was by far the best all-around experience. The highlight had to be the breadth of sea life we pulled up and investigated, interacted with and, of course, learn about."

Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

"Strive for the Gold" Weekend

Dates:  Feb. 17-19

Time:  10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Amidst the world games occurring in Pyeongchang, South Korea, there also are medals to be won Presidents Day weekend at The Maritime Aquarium!

The Aquarium’s “Strive for the Gold Weekend” will invite guests to take part in bonus activities, some of which test their skills in comparison to those of aquatic animals.

Can you hop farther than a frog? Can you leap as high as a seal? Others may challenge guests in sporting events, like shooting a puck past an “octopus” goalie or tossing a bean bag into a “shark” mouth.

Complete all the activities and earn a “Strive for the Gold” medal. And be sure to bring your camera for a “photo opp” at the medals-ceremony podium.
